Art According to Wirt

As an Artist and an Art Educator my perspective on art is rooted in the power of symbolism and the narrative to explain the sometimes unexplainable.

Art According to Wirt is dedicated to the advancement of critical thinking in art education.  Here you will find links to helpful sites in the areas of art education and research, art history, art production, visual culture, contemporary arts and curriculum development materials. Information presented on this site is intended for the use of arts educators and art students in their quest to deepen understanding of the world of art.

Artworks presented with in this site are linked to their original sites and are intended for educational use.

The student is the artist just as the artist is the student.

My goal as an artist is to put into visual form what I see, feel, experience, think, and learn.  My goal as an art educator is to provide my students with opportunities to acquire the skills needed to visualize their questions, seek their own answers, create new ways to utilize their knowledge  so they may make connections between art and the rest of their world.  Above all, I am forever a student; seeking answers to questions that have yet to be asked and finding new methods to visually express the experiences life presents.

Explore the linked pages above to see what artworks I create and to find lesson ideas, examples, and links to other instruction resources.
